All we have is now

capturing life as it happens

Boise Rocks!

Every spring for about a week Boise is all about music: this is when the annual Treefort Music Fest takes place. A friend of mine plays the drums in various bands so it was absolutely mandatory for me to catch at least one of them during that time. Continue Reading

Blue Lake (In Black & White)

We recently decided that it was finally time again for a hike. So we got the kids in the car, a few friends to join us, and drove up to Blue Lake (close to Cascade, ID). Blue Lake really is a special place. Even though it is still very close to “civilization” you feel like you’re in the middle of the wildernis.Continue Reading

All is bright (and warm!)

Every year, Purple Sage Farms in Middleton, ID do a winter solstice celebration with a potluck dinner and a big bonfire. My family and I went there in 2017 and had such a great time that it was clear we’d return again this year. They had an impressively large pile of wood ready to be burned and the high expectations coming from that did most certainly not get disappointed. Continue Reading

End of January a spontaneous trip to Bruneau Dunes State Park led to a very special experience for me and my family. As it was a cloudy and windy winter day nobody besides us had decided to go there (well, why would you). However, when we arrived, there was a big “hole” in the clouds, filled with blue sky and sunshine that lightened up the entire place and made it feel more like spring than winter (for the first time in my life I got to walk around in a t-shirt in January).Continue Reading

An evening with the stars

Even though I’m not really into cars (yes, I know I’m weird) I recently visited the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. I might have to add that the main reason for going there was because I managed to get a ticket for a special photography event that allowed me (and a few others) to stay inside after they had closed the doors. So I went there with my camera not really knowing what to expect and what was going to happen but pretty sure that there would be “something” in it for me.Continue Reading

Spring is coming

Last weekend we had close to 20°C (65°F) and it really felt like spring is finally here. Besides the temperature and the (occasional) sunshine the first flowers are starting to show. Especially snowdrops are now everywhere in our garden.Continue Reading

Have you ever noticed that falcons look like tiny kings sitting in their tree-thrones? Especially now that it’s cold and they are all “fluffed up” they get a very “royal” look.Continue Reading

Stuttgart on a glorious Sunday

On Sunday we felt it might be a good idea to go to Stuttgart and enjoy the sun (after all it was “sun”-day). The second half of the plan was to visit an exihibition about the Swabians in the old castle (a place I hadn’t been to for a loooong time). However, as it was all dark and gloomy inside the building the museum piece felt rather depressing and we ended up not spending much time learning about our history and all the inventions originating from this area of Germany 🙂Continue Reading

A look down

I recently started a little photography project to capture things from a different angle. What I noticed is that “looking down” lets you see a lot of things you otherwise miss. We are typically busy scanning the area around us to see what’s happening so we don’t look at what is right at our feet.Continue Reading
